Beirut

The downtown area of Beirut and the coast areas are popular with tourists.  Visitors will want to spend time in the restaurants and other entertainment venues and shop in the markets.  Souk el Barghout is one of the largest market areas in the city.  The National Museum of Beirut exhibits a wide variety of objects that examine and reflect the various parts of Lebanon’s history.  The Sarcophagus of King Ahiram is a display from ancient times, there are marble works from Roman times and various object from the Byzantine era.  To view modern art, visit the Sursock Museum.
