Mecca

Millions of visitors of the Islamic faith travel to Mecca, a city an hour’s drive from Jeddah. The Masjid al-Haram and the Kaaba are the well-known landmarks of the historic area. Mecca has a large variety of restaurants, serving traditional foods like mufallaq, kabsa and aysh abu laham as well as seafood dishes made with produce from the Red Sea. Many modern buildings are being constructed in Mecca. The Abraj Al Bait Towers contain hotel accommodation facilities as well as residences for locals. Also called the Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel, the building contains a large clock that is visible from all over Mecca.
