Vancouver Island, close to the U.S. mainland, offers something for everything with both cities and remote wilderness, remarkable scenery and many an opportunity for night-time adventures. The city of Victoria is where most people arrive, and due to its beauty, stay for a number of days to explore the glorious gardens and enjoy all that the city has to offer. Vancouver Island has such a breadth of landscapes that you are able to ski on snowy mountains, soak up the sun on beautiful beaches and walk through wilderness reserves on a grizzly bear spotting-tour.
If you are interested in adventure then there are many activities on offer, the tiny town of Zeballos has outstanding fishing and kayaking, the forest walk through Cathedral Grove has ancient trees in a stunning environment and the whale watching is amongst the best in the world. Depending on what type of holiday you are looking for there are many different options for accommodation as there are city hotels, bed and breakfasts and, more romantically, numerous wooden cabins available for rent. Mt. Washington is the highest point in the region and a wonderful place to winter with excellent snow and snug cabins.
