Corner Brook

Many of the destinations for tourists who go to Newfoundland are in the eastern part but to explore the west a good place to start is Corner Brook. It is the location of the Captain James Cook National Historic Site, as he mapped the area in the 1700s. The Corner Brook Museum has displays about the history of the region, including the local industries of logging and fishing.  In winter, visitors to Corner Brook can enjoy the activities at the Blow Me Down Cross Country Ski Park. Among the many trails to ski on are 6.5 kilometres of trails that have lighting for skiing at night.
