Kitchener

Kitchener is named after Field Marshal Horatio Herbert Kitchener, after changing its name from Berlin in 1916. A lot of the early settlers to the area were German and today the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest is held there annually. The city also hosts the Kitchener Blues Festival. Downtown Kitchener is where tourists will want to go to sample the food and culture of Kitchener. The Fred Ewanuick CTV television show Dan for Mayor is filmed around Kitchener. A lot of activities take place on the Grand River, with fishing and canoeing two pastimes to enjoy.
