Niagara-on-the-Lake

There are few places in Canada with as much history as Niagara-on-the-Lake. Niagara-on-the-Lake was the scene of battles during the War of 1812 and now many of the forts used back then have been restored and are open to the public. Fort George and Fort Erie are two locations to visit and tourists can watch re-enactments of battles as well as view other displays showing what life was like two centuries ago. Niagara-on-the-Lake also hosts the Shaw Festival which specializes in shows of George Bernard Shaw. Across the river from Niagara-on-the-Lake is New York State and Niagara Falls and other tourist attractions are nearby.
