In the past, most people took a ferry when travelling to Prince Edward Island . Now there is a bridge. The Confederation Bridge links mainland Canada with Prince Edward Island, and now people can drive across the bridge and go from Cape Jourimain, New Brunswick to Borden-Carleton. The bridge is 12.9 kilometres long. The multi-span concrete box girder Confederation Bridge was designed for the icy waters of Northumberland Strait. The ferry service from Borden-Carleton to Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick no longer operates. Tourists can visit Borden-Carleton’s Gateway Village and Marine Rail Park.
