Berkeley, California was the hub of the hippie lifestyle during the days of the Vietnam War. Home to the University of California at Berkeley, this city is as liberal as it gets. Located east of the city of San Francisco, this city has a very active and celebrated gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. Explore the city using one of the many bike paths, which cut through the city or, spend the day on the water enjoying the fabulous landscape and views from the deck of a rental boat.
