1. Dallas will forever be remembered as the city where President Kennedy was assassinated. Visit the Murder Perch Museum where you can stand on the spot from where the sniper fired on the 6th floor; and inspect various artefacts and items of evidence related to the assassination.

Back on ground level, wander over to Elm Street, where the assassination took place and see the lines painted on the street to show the route of the motorcade and the crosses which mark where the bullets landed. The latest conspiracy theory is always being expounded by someone, so stop and listen.
3. One of the best historical buildings in Dallas is the Old Red Courthouse. The Museum of Dallas Country History and Culture is located inside, where you can view interactive exhibits and watch films. Also on this site is a well staffed and knowledgeable visitor’s centre.
4. For those tourists who remember and loved the TV series Dallas, a trip to South Fork Ranch, where the series was filmed, is a must. You will be able to walk through the mansion and the wander around the grounds of the world’s most famous ranch.
5. For 360 degree panoramic views of the city and its surrounds, head to the Reunion Tower, possibly the most iconic sight in Dallas. The ball at the top is a revolving restaurant. Go up during daylight and stay to see the lights go on.
6. For a little bit of culture, the Dallas Museum of Art has wonderful collections of south Asian, ancient Mediterranean, African, European and American art. The museum also hosts concerts, Film screenings and jazz performances. Guided tours are available.
7. The West End of the city is a lively pedestrian area full of beautifully restored buildings. Take the Light Rail to West End Dart Station to get there. This is a good place for shopping and having a bite to eat at one of its many restaurants.
8. Dallas is linked to the city of Fort Worth, where you will find the Stockyards district. This historic neighbourhood is now home to various forms of entertainment, shops and restaurants. Visit the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and watch a rodeo.

10. To take a break away from the bustle of the city, head out of town and go for a hike or bicycle ride in White Rock Lake Park. The lake in the area which offers recreational activities is Lake Ray Hubbard and Lake Lewisville is renowned as a great place to go fishing.
