Duque de Caxias

Just north of the much larger city of Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias is continuing to grow as a player in the Brazilian economy. An important city in the oil and chemical industries, this city is a suburb of the nearby international city, Rio de Janeiro. Still with nearly one million residents, it is not a small city. Tourism here comes mostly in the form of business travelers and those venturing out from Rio to see the nearby cities. The Duque de Caxias Futebol Clube is a popular soccer team based here, adored by the faithful local fans.
