La Serena

As Chile’s second oldest city, La Serena has a population of over 160,000 residents. Founded in the 1500’s the city has a rich and storied history. The city does a nice job of blending old and new structures and the number of great historical sites in the city is plentiful.  La Serena has a thriving tourism industry as its beaches play home to hordes of tourists looking to soak up the sun and the cool Pacific breeze in summer months. The well preserved, seaside city is a welcome change for many tourists looking for a nice relaxing environment to enjoy some R&R.
