Located in northern Colombia near the Caribbean coast, Barranquilla is home to nearly 1.2 million residents and is the fourth largest city in Colombia. An important port and agricultural powerhouse, the city is very important to Colombia’s international trade. The popular centro historic district is a center for commerce in the city and a site to see in and of itself. A rich culture that has been largely uninhibited by tourism and many great local attractions make this city a welcome reprieve from the busy, modernized Colombian cities to the south.
