Cucuta

Located in northeastern Colombia, Cucuta is the 5^th largest city in the country with nearly one million residents. The city which lies very close to the Venezuelan border is an important trade and commerce center for both countries. Recent investments in infrastructure and modernization have made the city much more appealing and livable and the many parks and plazas make the city very pedestrian friendly. The border area is statistically more crime prone as smuggling and narcotics operations have been an issue here in the past, however recently steps have been taken to halt these activities.
