Chiclayo

Chiclayo is the fourth largest city in Peru, located on its northern coast on the Pacific Ocean. Unlike the sprawling capital city of Lima to the south, Chiclayo is a place that was less influenced by Spanish colonization. For this reason, the city is much more authentically Peruvian and a great hidden gem for travelers looking for an “off the beaten track” location to explore, that still has the conveniences of a big city. The Northern Wari ruins are located near the city and many travelers will stay in Chiclayo before heading out to explore this important and historical archeological site.
