Cusco

Located in the Urubamba valley in southeastern Peru, Cusco is a major tourist destination and the city see’s over 1.5 million tourists annually. Many of these travelers are en route to the immensely popular Machu Picchu ruins. The city itself was the home of the Inca Empire and is a UNESCO world heritage site. At over 11,000 ft in elevation, altitude sickness is common for travelers who have just arrived.
