Barquisimeto

Barquisimeto is located in western Venezuela on the Turbio River. While not a large in size as Caracas or Maracaibo, Barquisimeto is a very unique and authentically Venezuelan city. With over 1.5 million residents, it is a quite a large city and it is also becoming a main player in the Venezuelan economy with its thriving agricultural production and trade. The city is far off the tourist trail and thus, tourism is not a main industry here. However, for travelers looking for something different and exotic, Barquisimeto can be an interesting and extremely cost effective place to explore.
