Caracas

Sheltered by the Cordillera de la Costa from the Caribbean Sea and set at an elevation of around 3,000 ft, Caracas is a very unique and diverse city and the largest in Venezuela. Caracas is host to a very diverse population of many European, Arab and Asian immigrants, as well as many immigrants for nearby Latin American countries. Despite its reputation as a dangerous city, efforts in recent years to stop violent crime have been effective in tapering off these activities. Many great historical and religious sites can be found throughout the city, many dating back between 400-500 years old.
