Coche Island

Part of the Nueve Esparta State in Venezuela, Coche Island is a glorious gem in the Caribbean Sea. Home to only a few resorts and generally favoured by windsurfers due to the amazing conditions, this island is a dream place to spend a few days or weeks with some beautiful beaches to laze around on. Nothing much happens on this simple fishing isle but that is where the charm lies, most people come here to enjoy the warm hospitality and uncomplicated lifestyle.

The best option to explore Coche is on a rented bike as the land is remarkably flat, making it is an easy ride for the relatively fit and the beautiful beaches are easy to find. The best of the beaches for windsurfing is believed to be Playa La Punta but if you are feeling romantic then you should head to Playa el Amor, a beautiful, windswept haven. There are three wonderful resorts to stay in, each offering different levels of quality but all of which will make your stay here memorable. It is easy to travel between the three islands of the Nueve Esparta State with Isla Margarita being the largest.
