Best Skiing Places?

I love snow skiing and have done a lot in the USA and the European Alps area, but I’m wondering where are the best rated skiing places, especially in other locations?

I love skiing too! I've skied in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America. Not yet done Japan, which is meant to be very good for powder.

My top ten ski resorts are:

    Kitzbuhel, Austria
    Morzine, France
    Chamonix, France
    Cortina, Italy
    Zermatt, Switzerland
    Aspen, Colorado
    Vail, Colorado
    Stowe, Vermont
    Whistler, Canada
    Mont-Tremblant, Quebec

I put Whistler in Canada as a favourite, great snow, lots of runs, easy lift system, lots of places to stay and easy to reach from Vancouver by bus that departs from the airport.

Ushuaia, the most southern city in the world in Argentina is taking off as South America’s most budget friendly winter sports playground. The Centro Castor ski resort is open from May to September and has 22km of downhill runs and ski passes are cheap.

Portes du Soleil in France and Switzerland is my favorite place to ski. The area includes Morzine, Avoriaz, Lets Getz and lots more. Its the second largest ski area in the World. We skied there for a month and we didn't ski every run, its huge. Very enjoyable to ski in France in the morning then cross to Switzerland for the afternoon.

Outside of the USA and Europe, Whistler-Blackcomb in Canada is a great place to ski, another big skiing area and so much to do for all levels of skier.

Australia and NZ skiing is fun but the runs are very short, you can go down the mountain in just a couple of minutes but in the Alps some runs will take about half an hour.

Japan is well known for its off piste powder. Chile is suppose to have some great skiing but can be a bit of a trek to fly too (depending on where you live).

Overall, the French/Swiss Alps are probably the best places in the World to ski, and if you find a resort near Geneva, it will be very easy to reach.
