    Here's a small sample:

Chateau de la Motte, France: A 15th century chateau in the Poitou region of the Loire Valley.

Waterford Castle, Ireland: An 800-year old castle on its own island in southern Ireland. It has tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course, fine dining and plenty to explore nearby.

Castello di Roncade Agriturismo, Italy: A stone walled villa at Roncade in NE Italy with it’s own vineyard.

Stayokay Heemskerk, Netherlands. A 13th century castle with cheap beds.

Bran Castle, near Brasov, Romania: Commonly known as 'Dracula's Castle', this 14th century castle, with its fairytale turrets, Mediterranean whitewashed walls and labyrinth of secret underground passages, really has nothing to do with Count Dracula! However, perched on a 60 metre peak in Bran village, it is supposedly haunted, for that extra something!

Carbisdale Castle, Scotland: A 'new' castle built in 1906 in Kyle of Sutherland, with Italian marble busts, stained glass windows and cheap rooms as it is run by the YHA.

Alcalá de Henares, Spain: Not actually a castle, but 26km from Madrid is this 17th century building, formerly the Convent of Santo Tomas de Aquino. Now a 4-star hotel, parts of it are very modern and new.

Brecon Castle, Wales: A small, yet homely, building annexing the actual castle with fabulous views.
